I've realized it's hard for me to sleep the night before the Interstate Classic. It's because it's exciting. I want to go to bed and rest up for what lies ahead. But, I want the morning to be here so that I can start watching the CS complex go from completely empty, the sun still making the sky pink, and just the noise of the trees and birds...and quickly the platurns into thousands of people, usually heat (except the few rainy years), and the facility covered with people, tents, and tarps.
It's also the starting line of the new season, and so much excitement and hope lie ahead for this years Blazer squad. A girls TEAM who already functions as one unit, and a boys team that I'll probably have to make up new vocablulary words to describe. Tonight they taught me how to carry one another like a "french lady", so I'm already learning new words.
I know that many of the teams in attendance are starting their season, and this year, we have many coaches who are beginning a new chapter in their lives as they are coaching their first meet. I wish everyone good luck tomorrow, and I can't wait to watch the complex fill up...now, maybe some "sleepytime" tea will help me get that rest I'll need.
